Let’s begin our series by taking a look at 2018’s Drama category nominees and how they perform on Instagram. Along with follower counts, we’re also considering the content they publish.
Our nominees are:
The Americans
The Crown
Game of Thrones
The Handmaid’s Tale
Stranger Things
This Is Us
Westworld
Netflix’s Stranger Things leads the pack with over 6.2 million followers, just over a million followers ahead of HBO’s fantasy phenomenon, Game of Thrones. Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale lands in dead center of our list of nominees with 360,260 followers, less than half the audience of NBC’s This Is Us at 1,027,130 followers. At the tail end of our list, we have Netflix’s The Crown at 242,772 followers, then HBO’s Westworld with 99,828 and, lastly, FX’s The Americans at 31,465 followers.
For a better idea of what lead to such an impressive lead, let’s take a look at some of Stranger Things’ content. Most of the Instagram content shared includes video clips and animations that reference events from season 2 that resonated with fans.
For example, who can forget Responsible Steve?
Or those wild season 2 feels?
And, of course, there’s Dart!
