2018 Academy Awards

We’re almost one week away from 2018’s Academy Award ceremony! Let’s check in on this year’s Best Picture nominees & see who’s been killing it on social media so far.

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end as Call Me By Your Name’s month-long lead in social growth across the board is toppled by a surprise surge of followers for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri on Twitter (10%) and YouTube trailer views (9%). On Instagram, Three Billboards managed to just squeak past CMBYN’s 13% weekly growth by just 1%. However, Call Me By Your Name still maintained a small lead on Facebook growth this week at 11%. But the competition isn’t far behind as Steven Spielberg’s The Post trails behind on Facebook by 1% to CMBYN’s 11% growth.

To understand what led to such a notable growth in social following, we took a look at Three Billboards’  presence & noticed a few interesting tactics.

On Facebook, the film does an excellent job of keeping engaged with its community with gif responses to comments and praise from fans:

Meanwhile, their Instagram presence has been focused on award wins and nominations from various film associations:

And on Twitter, there’s a focus on public appearances from the cast, including interviews & online Q&A:
